no it doesn't, technically nothing allows you to stuff up your externals - and considering your school rank, i wouldn't advise it

that said, it really depends because you're coming second and both of you might do oustandingly well compared to the rest of your grade... but still - don't stuff up.

lets say i get 10/15 across the board

i.e in total (AOS + modules) 60/90 - is this a band 5 mark?

lets say i get 11/15 across the board

i.e in total 66/90 - is this a band 5 mark?

the thing is your marks at school don't really matter because they'll be aligned anyway depending on how your school is doing as a whole. 10/15 or 11/15 are low Bs and i would be very concerned if i were you.
Because of your school rank, that could scale you down further and you may end up getting a band 4 or even a band 3.

My school is currently coming 3rd, and i was told that my english mark, after it was aligned would probably be the same as it is now

Pretty much, I wouldn't worry too much about scaling, and aligned and aggregrate crap now. It's the time when you just put your head down and sprint to the finishing line. Control the stuff that you can control, and don't fret about the stuff that you can't. :)

apparently 80/105 is almost a band 6 but i may be wrong.....also don't question yourself on whether or not you will stuff your externals, just do your best and see what you can achieve

Always room to screw up externals...Don't get smug and comfortable in your rank, the externals are more important than your 100% internal assessment
