I currently have two ideas to approach the belonging section of my half yearly. The first concept is a guy that that has recently been fired from the army and he finds it difficult to live in a contemporary household after a lifetime living in army barracks. Then describe the relationships [belonging] he has been dragged away from and his battles with using appliances and potential post-traumatic stress disorder.

The second idea is a policeman patrolling a rural area and finds a hidden growth of cannabis. Basically, I'd describe all the effort someone had put into creating a water system etc. for the marijuana to grow efficiently and hypothesise the effects (financial etc) that would have impacted on whoever owns it. AKA they belong to the marijuana and the lifestyle it provides.

So does anyone recommend I go with either of these? If they both suck, i have just over 24 hours to create something else before my trials.

Perhaps you might like to consider doing a diary entry for the creative piece. I'm sure that teachers get sick of hearing boring stories with corny endings, why not write a diary entry for example from the perspective of the army guy. Or it could be a range of diary entries...the moment the marker sees you've used a different form they will think "creative", I'm gonna diary entries for sure. You've just gotta make sure they dont specify "narrative", but if they dont, you can do as you wish.

Yeah, I have been trying to avoid what a lot of people I know seem to be doing.. which involves cliched situations of people not belonging like joining a new school or migrating to a different country.

I think I'd find a diary entry a little restrictive as it wouldn't be possible to use as many language techniques and descriptive language as in a narrative in 1st/3rd person.

i like the pot idea, just because its different LOL
the other idea seems a bit cliche to me, as in like its someone just basically trying to assimilate into a community.

i like the first idea.

i think it may be risky doing something about drugs as you never know who will be marking your paper in that actual hsc and they might have a negative reaction to it to a story about drugs.

But thats just my opinion, good luck :)

Don't do drugs.
My teacher was telling me how every year a whole group of students write about drugs, school issues, first sexual experiences ( LOL ) and basically things that are within ' teenage atmosphere'

Do something different. I like your first idea but make sure you dont over dramatize the issues, it being a stress disorder & all.

Im trying to write a happy creative. So far every single one I've read people die o_O

Oh and I'd just like to add. I've already read 3 belonging creatives involving an army LOL.

Sorry, I just realised how negative my post is -_-"

But just a heads up incase your still willing to change :)
