Explain why f(x)=x^2 − 4x + 5 does not have an inverse function.

I couldn't remember how dod we do these kinda questions.
Anyone has good method of drawin inverse functions?
I always get mixed up of inverse sine and cosine when the question is reali complicated.

Horizontal line test: If a horizontal line crosses the graph of the function more than once, it does not have an inverse.

Quite simply, a function maps one x-value to one or more y-values. If there is more than one x-value for each y-value, it is not a function - hence why it does not have an inverse.
