Definitely. Without tutoring plus my extreme laziness, I would've failed my HSC.

Without the tutoring i had for maths i had for a short time, i would've been so worried that my dodgy maths teacher wasn't teaching me the right things that i would've probably dropped 4U XD

Getting tutored for one year is worth it, if it's going to help you get to your goal. You won't regret it.

I was tutored in Year 7, 8, 10, consistently for Maths and English.

Then went solo for Year 11 up to half yearlies to see how i'd go. Turned out that i performed better than i ever did in year 7 -10, except for Maths. Picked up Maths tutoring again til start of year12. Then went solo for HSC this year and its worked out pretty well

Although i kind of regret not continuing maths tutoring, i would have probably gone better in maths. But then again probably not so well in other subjects that i needed the time for. Tutoring is a personal thing. Don't do it for the sake of it, only do it if you need it and know specifically what your weaknesses/needs are.

it probably might have made me keep 4u...it was my teachers first time teaching the course and i didnt like his teaching style/he hardly knew how to explain it and often just read me stuff out of the text book =/
if you are struggling, may aswell get a tutor

Yes, but only private one-on-one tutoring helps. I believe group tutoring is pointless cos in a group of lets say 6 people, everyone is at different levels and the tutor is unable to pay equal attention to everyone's needs...

Whereas one-on-one tutoring has really benefit me as the tutor was able to identify my weaknesses and what I already know. Because there are no-one else around to judge me, I was able to openly communicate with the tutor and asked him to repeat things that I didnt get the first time. And one-on-one tutoring is definitely more flexible, lets say if next week I'm having a calculus exam I can request for the lesson to be calculus focused and do revision in that particular area. Whereas in a group session, all the other students may have completed their calculus assessment and find it a waste of time that the tutor has to cater the lesson for one person's particular needs.

So YES, tutoring totally helps! It has helped me revise formulas throughout the year, kept me on task, and tackled a LOAD of past papers that I wouldnt have even touched on my own.

Yes, and it also provides motivation if you need it.

Personally, I love English and the humanities subjects like legal studies and economics. And I think if you are highly self-motivated for a subject and you're getting marks you're happy with, there's really no need for a tutor. Sometimes getting a tutor for a subject you love can turn it into a chore, especially if you've already got an effective study method.

However, I somewhat regret not getting a maths tutor. I was always able to do maths, but I was never motivated to complete examples or put as much effort into study like I did with my other subjects. I remember thinking the night before my trials when I had been studying for several hours that "maths isn't so bad" and concepts were easier to grasp because I had forced myself to put in effort. And I think if I had a tutor there to encourage me to put at least 3-4 hours of effort into maths each week, I would be a lot stronger in the subject than I am now.

Note: I've never had a tutor, but I just wanted to share my opinion.

Tutoring helped me for sure, only stuck to it for Physics (and guess what my best subject turned out to be)

Should have stuck to my Maths tutoring, would have secured Band E4s. Now I'm only looking at E3s
