- long half-life
- low emission levels.

Now, this question is a bit flawed.
You need to have a use for cobalt-60 if you are going to justify it.
Hence you need to state which use you are talking about.
Sterilisation, cancer treatment, etc (if there are more)

Now, because it's an "explain" question, you need to have causes and effects.

To use your examples:
Cause: long half life (state the exact value)
Effect: long time use without frequent replacement->convenient and cost efficient for industrial use (sterilisation)

Cause: low emission levels (assuming this is correct. I didn't study cobalt-60)
Effect: safer to use than when a radioisotope with higher emission levels are used->better work environment for doctors treating cancer and workers at industrial sites utilising cobalt-60

Another example:
Cause: gamma emitter
Effect: suitable for use requiring great penetrating ability->able to kill cancer cells and sterilise stuff

I was taught that those are its nuclear properties, not chemical. But they took the word 'chemical' out of the new syllabus starting this year [or so I'm told], so it should be alright.
