I'm enrolling now but I am really confused about what to choose.

The website says: whether you are considering a possible economics major or not, you do not have to make any decisions in your first year about optional economics courses. As part of the BEc/BCom core, you will enrol in ECON1101 and ECON1202 in the first session, and in ECON1102 and ECON1203 in the second session. Even if you are considering a major in economics, you need not enrol in any further economics courses in the first year.

Does this mean that I only do 2 courses in first semester?? I thought it was meant to be 4.

Also, does it mean that I don't have to make any decisions until 2nd year?

Oh, and I plan on 2 majors (economics and something else) for when I graduate.

Thanks!

According to the Handbook one of your compulsory courses is also the basic Accounting course, ACCT1501, so you can do that first semester too. As to the three remaining courses you have to choose (another one in first semester and another two in second semester) I would thoroughly recommend doing some of the core courses for Accounting and Finance majors, even if you don't wish to do the entire major, as they give a good overview of what the major is about and will help a lot in your later life. That would therefore be ACCT1501 (which is compulsory anyway), ACCT1511, FINS1612 and FINS1613.
Besdies them, you could also do some (or all) of the 12 units of Gen Ed courses that you have to do. There are a lot of really interesting Gen Ed courses available and they're all piss easy, so it's an easy start to uni life.
You also have do decide now whether your additional major will be Mathematics or Statistics, because if it's either then you should be doing the Science Faculty courses (the ones starting with MATH) rather than ECON1202 and ECON1203

If you do 2 courses in a semester, then you're a part time student.

The usual load is 4 courses a semester, hence you're a full-time student.

In the 1st year for an economics degree, you have 6 compulsory courses you need to do.

Here's an example

Semester 1

ECON1101
ACCT1501
ECON1202 & ECON1203 or ECON1203 & Elective (your choice depending on majors)

Semester 2

ECON1102 (need to complete ECON1101)
ECON1401 (need to complete ECON1203 & ECON1101)
2 Electives

Have they changed the rules? Cos ECON1202 was a prerequisite for ECON1203 for me. Couldn't do them at the same time.
