My dad used to have one that ran MSdos, black screen with green font and cool games such as hangman and pacman:)

Then in 95 we paid $4k for this 70mhz, 16mb ram, 2gb HDD (thats $5600 in today's money)

I had one I occassionally used for typing, which had Windows 95 as its main operating system. The first proper one we had though ran Windows 98, and had no sound card.

First one had MS-DOS, nothing more...our second one had just enough power to run sim earth on the old 7 inch floppy's must have gotten it around 94/95...don't remember the specs, we upgraded b4 I started school! I got my first (and only currently working compy) in 2003/2004 sumer holidays cos I needed it for high school! 1gb of ram, 64gig of storage, pentium 4 processor...it was the bomb!

My first lappy had 2gb ram but only a 16gb harddrive, load of crap that had several software and hardware faults so the wireless stuff didn't work, even when we changed the card...HP couldn't solve the problem, nor could the techie from CERN

Technically a Vic 20, but I can barely remember it. Our first modern form computer we got in '97. Bit fuzzy on the details (6 at the time) but I think it was something like this:

8x CD Drive <- might be a replacement from the original
Pentium II 400 MHz ?
32 Mb Ram
8 or 16 Mb Video
2 or 4.2 GB HD (Still using the 4.2, but it could've been a replacement for when the computer got struck through the phone line.)
14.4k modem -> 33.6k after lightning strike.

15" monitor
Colour Ink Jet printer
Win 95

All up it cost around $3,500 I believe.

The Vic 20's still in the cupboard, along with a spare for parts. It might still work.

My first was an Apple Performa 5400, back in '96. It had a 180 mhz processor, 24 mB of RAM, and a 2gb hard drive (surprisingly, it came with a couple of features that you still don't find often today, such as an inbuilt TV tuner, a video input, and a remote). It actually still works, although it's rather slow and normally resides in the shed.

The oldest working computer I've collected since then would be either a Mac Plus or an Amiga 500.

Sounds like The Treehouse. I had that on my 93(?) computer, all I can remember about it is that it ran Windows 3.1 and had Indy and Links on it. Also some Hugo games.

We had some Compaq in 98ish running Windows 95 originally. All I can remember is that the 3GB hard drive slowly ran out of total space till it was a 512mb hard drive >.<
