The syllabus says 2 different things in regard to the SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT CYCLE:

The stages are at first -
1. Defining the problem
2. Planning
3. Building
4. Checking (Testing)
5. Modifying

But then when it is examined in detail:

1. Defining and understanding the problem
2. Planning and designing
3. Implementation
4. Testing and Evaluation
5. Maintenance

WTF is going on?

The first 4 seem ok to me, the last one is a bit :S.

Which don't you agree with?

LOL the syllabus contradicts itself

First it shows the first 5 on the list, then later it talks about the other 5 on my list? Which one is correct?

I do remember coming across this during SDD last year. The first 5 steps is the software development cycle in general. The other 5 steps is the structured approach.

The first group of 5 is actually "2. Planning and Designing" in more detail.

To clear things up, just use this:

1. Understanding the problem
2. Defining the Problem
3. Planning
4. Building
5. Checking (Testing)
6. Modifying
7. Implementation
8. Testing and Evaluation
9. Maintenance

Changelist:
1. Placed the first method inside the second one, replacing "Planning and designing"
2. Changed "Defining and Understanding the Problem" to "Understanding the problem" due to overlap.

Hope I helped!
