Difference Between Economics and Commerce? (1 Viewer)

I've been accepted into an Arts/Commerce degree commencing semester 1, 2011.

I'm wondering what the main differences are between a commerce degree and an economics degree.

I'll be going to UWA if that makes any difference.

Commerce degrees tend to be more broad than economics.

Think of econ as commerce with a more specialist focus - while you can usually still take a second major in accounting, finance, marketing, etc, you'll need to focus on some aspect of economic analysis. Topics that you study will include things like labour markets, international trade and economic development.

IMO, economics is one of the more challenging (and rewarding) areas of business studies.

And two years later your post helped me to be relaxed with my choice of doing B. Economics.
