Hiya,

Got my results back today and was more than pleased with my ATAR (90.60). The 2010 cutoff for a double degree in Arts/Economics at UNSW is 91.6.

I achieved an E4 in 4 unit english (48/50) but am very interested in the concepts of economics and commerce.

Do I have a chance of getting in? Any particular thoughts or commentary on these courses?

Any input would be much appreciated! ^.^

Definitely. Remember that ATAR cutoff was for last year so it could change for your benefit. Also, there will be students who achieved the required ATAR but may choose to defer or reject their offer thus giving you the chance of a second or third round offer. Good luck! :)

you will almost certainly get in

Even if you dont get into the combined degree you can just get into arts and transfer into the combined.

I also thought you got 1 or 2 bonus points if you did well at advanced english or extension 1 english, and possibly another point if you got a band 5 or 6 in 2unit maths I think

I actually checked the UNSW website today, and it appears as though I'm able to receive the maximum 5 bonus points (2 for B5 in Adv. Eng, 2 for E3 in EE1, and 2 for E4 in EE2) - totalling as a selection rank of 95.60!

I'll put in my UAC application tomorrow, hope I get lucky ^.^

Also, to negate making another thread, does anyone have thoughts on majoring in Philosophy/Financial Economics? I know it's weird combination, but they're both areas I'm intensely interested in. Perhaps I'd be better off studying Philosophy as a private interest, and instead majoring in International Relations or some such thing? I just can't decide >.<

Once again, any input appreciated!
