Or more likely you never had a chance because they are all brainwashed by Murdoch publications and Ch nein/seven which tell them the greens are TEH EVIL. You should have expressed yourself in Daily Terrorcrap headline style only.

if there were more journalists like Marr and less like, well, everyone working for Murdoch, then maybe you'd have done better! Or alternatively if these poor folk had the chance to go to uni or at least finish year 12...

also, wikipedia:
In 2002, Marr demonstrated on Media Watch that conservative newspaper columnist Janet Albrechtsen had misquoted a French psychiatrist, Jean-Jacques Rassial, and claimed that she had done this deliberately to make it look as though violence and gang rape were institutionalised elements of the culture of Muslim youths.

derp

If you want the children of storemen and forklift operators to be stuck as storemen and forklift operators because they cannot afford to go and train to be engineers, barristers or accountants then you are the elitist. In any case it is a red herring because increased taxes would mostly target the very wealthy. If someone 'working class' happens to be very wealthy e.g. because of the mines, tough shit.

Aside from the Herald Sun, The Australian and Network Seven, we enjoyed very good relations with the press this campaign. The problem was people like Kaye and Rhiannon going around insinuating that if you were a church goer or if you owned a small retail business that you were inferior to the erudite intellectuals in Glebe and Newtown. Also don't get me started on that bloody senator from South Australia.

Clearly the opinions of someone who has spent many years intensively studying a field (professor) is on the exact same level as someone who is trying to sell papers by appealing to prejudices and insecurities. Or someone who just votes a particular way because their mates/parents do, or because they are racist!

So you are agreeing with me? That greensfags are just as conformist as bogans in the Western suburbs but are merely conforming to different influences (regardless of what you consider to be the quality of these influences)?

"insecurities" lol

Is it any wonder the Western Suburbs hold the progressive left in contempt?
I'm fairly sure the left (Labor etc) will provide teh working class in the western Suburbs of Sydney a far better deak than

the right ('Liberal' party) will. I agree with you that primary school teachers do not need a 4 year degree necessarily etc.

Xenophon is also one of the best senators currently and certainly South Australia's best politician. I also strongly support his anti pokies stance.

In the place of one large corporation, hundreds of small businesses could flourish.
You're apparently ignorant to the fact that it is your precious government that allows corporations to establish themselves and cartelise by way of its "regulations" which help keep competition like small businesses from forming/surviving.

The economic contribution of one man buying a ferrari would be the same as ten people purchasing normal cars.
What the fuck do you mean "economic contribution"? This sounds like some demand-side Keynesian nonsense.

The man being able to afford a Ferrari is a product of his economic contribution.

If the ultra rich were prevented from amassing such wealth, it would be in the hands of those who deserve it and who would also put it to use.
Yeah okay you're predictably pre-supposing wealth/treating the economy as a zero-sum game.

IF you prevented people from becoming wealthy, then all that would happen is that htere would be far less productive activity and far less total wealth. Sure, your precious working class would have a larger slice of the pie, but the pie would be a fuckload smaller and would do less in satisfying your hunger (ie higher cost of living).

The investment and productivity occurs either way.
No it doesn't. You're clearly some consumptionist retard, and so if everyone is busy consuming ie squandering capital then there can be no investment.

The only question is who will reap the benefits. And it should be all of us. Not just an elite few
.

Having an UNfree market like today does distort the market somewhat, allowing people to unfairly aquire wealth. but ultimately it is all a matter of supply and demand. Pure and simple.
Trying to have an economy run by anything else will inevitably lead to sub-optimal conditions, for the bottom 1% and up.

Rather than mass capital accumulation, we should have capital distribution. The toiling masses deserve to reap the fruits of their labour.
Like I said, supply and demand. The "toiling masses" are low-paid not because of some "exploitation" nonsense, but simply because their skills aren't valuable.

Anyone can competently perform a minimum wage job, but only few people have the skills to successfully manage a company or to start/run a business, and fewer still are willing to risk their wealth in order to do so.

IF you take all the wealth from the rich this generation and give it to the "poor", all that means is that the next generation is going to be far less prosperous.

No not all, it is a complete stereotype/red herring.

I was just pointing out the stupidity of your anti-intellectualism.

none of that "theory" justifies the fact that some humans are buying their 3rd yacht while others can't afford to eat

Marr is an excellent journalist and fantastic author. "Dark Victory" and "The Henson Case" and "His masters voice" all occupy spots on my bookshelf. Janet Albrechtson works for the Australian, have already criticised the quality of the Herald Sun, The Australian and Network seven. But what of Annabelle Crabbe? Or Laurie Oakes? Or Kerry O'brien? or Lenore Taylor? Or Laura Tingle? Or Ramsey, Maiden, Wiley, Bourke, Megolagenis, Negus, Hartcher? They all wield a bit of a lefty flag but they don't strut around like smug superior intellectuals like David Marr or Bob Ellis but stop! I have no problem with Marr or Ellis doing so, my point was that the rhetoric of the faces of the campaign in NSW(with the exception of Brown) was the same as those journalists, as if they were only mildly interested in winning votes.

Frankly next to no highschoolies are missing uni because of the cost. Hecs is an extremely socialistic concept, to only make the people pay for it if they end up earning exorbitant amounts of money because of it. Furthermore, I'll admit i live at home but i do pay bored, I do pay for my own food and I do own my own car yet I have completed two years of my degree without accruing a dollar of Hecs debt. Socialising drivers licenses, basic warehousing credentials, RSA licenses etc is something that cold actually lift people out of employment instead of fattening the nests of the soon to be middle class.

No not all, it is a complete stereotype
of course it is a stereotype

it is impossible to talk about groups without using stereotypes

are you actually attempting to deny that the academic world is an intellectually conformist place

look at a poll of the political views of academic faculties for instance; conservative intellectuals are frequently non-existent in academia (they go into thinktanks) or usually are only found in economics or the hard sciences

academics that take dissenting views against the pillars of liberal orthodoxy are very often denounced by their peers and ostracized

it is most definitely a class that perpetuates itself through peer group pressures and recruitment processes

I was just pointing out the stupidity of your anti-intellectualism.
how am i an anti-intellectual doofus

"Anti-intellectual conservatives".
The universities in Australia today function as a subsidised cartel, and the people who work in the universities understand this. Without state involvement, the university system would not exist *as we know it*.

So there is group A that doesn’t have time to delve deeply into “political science” or economics, but is taxed to support a state that is doing much harm.

Then there is group B that exists only because of the state, and surprise surprise, they write long, intellectual tomes on the virtue of state power.

Group A cannot out-intellectualize group B. And hark! Group A is anti-intellectual and their arguments aren’t as intricate as group B! Clearly group A is just a bunch of backward neanderthals and their positions must reflect this!

no its more a case of group A avoiding academia like the plague and if they are in academia they can only get work in obscure and completely unimportant univerisites

and of course due to the self-perpetuating nature of the academic groupthink clusterfuck any student who passes through is very likely to absorb the ideas of his teachers

and since his teachers will be overwhelingly on the left and their courses frequently politicized to a considerable degree univeristies are lefty factories with a bunch of wacko socialist/liberal/anti-racist/feminist (whatever) ideologues running them

and since really only smart people go to college the left has a monopoly on the minds of young elites

of course there are more dumb conservatives since dumb people rarely go to university and are thus not socialized by intellectuals in universities that prioritize liberalism as an indicator of social status
