Okay Economics at UNSW... no data but the graduate salary on average there is around $50 000 a year. That's in the top 40% of graduate salaries in comparison with other fields of study. Others in that top 20-40% range are Computing/IT, Education, Environmental Studies, Rehab and Science.

What Arts are you wanting? If it's creative arts... that's bottom 20% - and the average salary is $40 830 Australia-wide.

50K and 40K are not very good starting salaries are they? to be fair. At my IT cooperative scholarship course you get 70-80 upon graduation
What the pay increase like as you progress though? Senior economist can earn a fair bit.

The good thing about BEc is you can use your skills in areas other than your direct line of work ie. trading on the ASX and running a business, two things I'm hoping to do in the long term.

50k is comparatively good. Considering what those people going to TAFE are gonna get, in general.

Even if that is true, which I doubt it is, its not worth the STI's they get.

Well, how much do TAFE people get?

If I'm ignorant - educate me on correctness, please.
DUDE what is WRONG with you?

OF COURSE YOU'RE RIGHT, I'm saying why compare a degree at uni which requires above 90 ATAR to TAFE, which doesnt even require an ATAR?

Compare it to other courses like it, like my IT scholarship, which requires a LOWER ATAR and earns MORE MONEY!

Some tradespeople can actually earn a fair bit. My brother went to tafe and did an electricians apprenticeship; he's probably earning around the $60k mark these days, which is alright considering he was being payed over the four years he spent completing it. The figure can only rise since he's looking to start a business of his own, too.

If you're not trolling, your elitism really is fairly ridiculous and baseless.

You don't need a degree for the 'skills' to trade on the ASX or run a business. A lot of people do both successfully without getting tertiary education. Some with multiple prestigious degrees fail in both.
