Do you think iPads are good for using at school?

I know they are more limited than laptops but in terms of portability

iPads aren't good for school because they're a distraction and you sit your HSC with pen and paper.

I think it would just be a pain to charge it every night or two and bring to school and back. It's more portable than a laptop and there's some great education apps but you may get to dependent on it.

I've got one of those netbooks the gov. gave us and it's just a distraction and I would much rather write everything out.

I have a netbook and use my phone as a 3G/HSDPA modem, great for YouTubing Rebecca Black music videos etc.

I personally wouldn't be using in Ipad; too much risk at school of it being broken / stolen. And Ipads aren't extensively more transportable than your average small laptop or notebook. I prefer to handwrite notes in class, then type them up onto the computer (neater, and allows for post-editing to occur). Plus, the HSC is handwritten; so I wouldn't be neglecting the fundamentals of writing notes and information in class.

I have all my textbooks as PDFs so instead of lugging all of them around I just carry a netbook. It also allows me to have easy access to other supplementary textbooks, past papers and other resources.

Trinity Grammar gives Year 11's/12's iPads. They're not good for studying. Whenever I go to the library with my Trinity friends they end up distracting themselves and others around them.
