Hi everyone. I was wondering if one's ATAR is affected by his/her school, school rank in relation to scaling.

My current situation is this,
I am in a really low-ranked school. (It's like 447 out of 630)
Standard English, Extension 2 Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Indonesian Beginners are the courses that I am studying for my HSC exams this year.
My marks are : Standard English (81)
Extension 1 Mathematics (84)
Extension 2 Mathematics (75)
Physics (87)
Chemistry (85)
Indonesian Beginners (98)

I was recently told that schools play a role in a student's ATAR (I recently came to Australia so I wasn't aware of this..) Will my school drag my ATAR down? Furthermore if answer-able, am I able to get an ATAR within the 90-95 range with these marks?
:(

Out of?

Seeing as how you're top of practically everything, school rank is not going to affect you. It indirectly affects your ATAR as it gives an idea of what your cohort may be like but this may not be true.

Maintain those ranks and 95 is perfectly possible.

There are about :
80 students in Standard English
21 students in Extension 1 Mathematics
10 students in Extension 2 Mathematics
41 students in Physics
24 students in Chemistry
5 students in Indonesian Beginners.

REALLY? In that case, is a 98+ a big dream? Or is it possible if I push myself harder?

Definitely always room for improvement. Particularly on MX2 and English.

My school rank is shit

Wont matter as long as you come top 3

School ranks have a very small impact as long as you come top 3 and then it probably wont affect it

False.

It really depends on how many kids are in your course and how good those kids are.

School cohorts definitely do not affect you if you are coming first in your course. Unless you bomb out in the final HSC exams of course xD
