I know that this topic has been up alot lately but i just want other people's opinion.
I extremely love maths. I love it more than any subject i have chosen. I'm doing 3 Unit so far, the i hate concepts of circle geometry. I am only in year 11 but i have extensive knowledge about calculus, trigonometry and alot of other topics here and there. I haven't had a 3Unit test yet, but soon will.

How much hours should i be studying now and how much hours should i be studying if i was doing 4Unit?
Do you think that i am 4 unit material? Why/Why not?
Also, would circle geometry pop up in exams because to me its like maths and english (proofing)?

Thanks so much guys.

Circle Geometry I believe is part of Harder 3 Unit. You should spend a fair amount of time building a foundation and cleaning up any concepts you do not understand before starting 4 unit. Unfortunately, you will have to do Circle Geometry in 3 unit Year 12 too. Just practise on questions and you can develop some useful skills to find links and relationships.

You may as well do it because you like maths. I suggest you do it because you can always drop it.

Studyingg is different for everyone, it really depends how good you are personally i try to do ~3 a day so i believe if you do 4U you may wanna try for ~4-5 a day. However this is just me

I say do it, see how you go, if you suck drop it, if you do ok keep it

Since you love maths you're probably at least quite good in it

Harder circle geometry is part of 4U. Maybe you're not studying it right.

Hire me and I can show you how to study it.

Always try it out, because you can drop it but you can't pick it up if its too late.

Study time is different for everyone. I only do the assigned homework for both 3U and 4U, and study in the days before an exam and this has worked for me. I don't believe in spending hours each day studying.

Circle Geometry is a topic that with a question you either get it straight away or you don't. There are many questions which I look at and straight away know the answer or how to get to it and then there are others which I can spend an hour on and not get it but come back the next day and get it instantly. Practice will obviously improve, and it is in the Harder 3U topic of 4U.

Mines ranked in the 600's and theres 3 of us that do 4U in my year; 7 that do 3U. The only disadvantage in that respect is that because less people do it theres less competition, you shouldn't worry about that though.

And yes, I do 4U.

Differentiation im good. Damn how i love differentiation. Integration is mild, i just understand the basis of it. Would you recommending getting me a tutor for 3 and 4 unit?
and AAEldar, did you have a tutor when you were in year 11 and now?

Integration is much better than differentiation I think, more to do.

I've never had a tutor for any subject - I don't think it would work for me. I guess what I said before wasn't completely true. I do all the homework but then I read ahead to understand what I'll be doing the next day before we do it in class. It helps so you don't have to process as much in class.

Hopefully next term because at the moment at my tutor, 'ABC College', we're covering year 12 2Unit work like second differentiations and stuff so im not sure. If i do choose 4 units of maths, should i drop chemistry? because i really don't think i can cope with both, physics and chemistry in year 12 along with 4 unit if i do it.

Second derivatives are not hard. If you understand these concepts, it will become the foundation for understand things in 4 unit. I also recommend getting your hands on some past papers (preliminary) especially from James Ruse (2 and 3 unit). You should be fine if you schedule and use your time correctly so I wouldn't worry about dropping Physics or Chemistry.

Do it man, circle geo will come with practice, im assuming your doing it for the first time so it's probably hard...but just repeat those same exercises for the second time and you will find it easier
As for 4 unit, it is literally an EXTENSION of 3 unit. So if u know 3 unit then its a just a little bit extra...

I disagree.

The gap from 3U to 4U is much bigger than the gap from 2U to 3U. 4U involves a different way of thinking - you need to think of the way to do the question. The concepts are more abstract and everything you use in 2U and 3U can be brought into one question in 4U.
