If you are trying a mathematical procedure, learn it and then try to RECALL it by reproducing on paper. If you want to memorise a passage, after learning it, make yourself reproduce it on paper (i.e. RECALL it) - that is how you wire it into your memory. You may have to do it a number of times before you achieve TOTAL RECALL.What methods do you use for memorising?
Rote learning, flow charts, diagrams, mnemonics??
From my experience: you must force yourself to write it down; to force a RECALL. Trying to memorise by re-reading, without actively doing something - i.e. active recall, is not so effective, in my humble opinion.Rote Learn
I memorize something and then find that it stays longer if I read it within 24 hours again, and after that write it, stays in longer.
Yes I agree with you, but it does take time, for me anyway, to have it 100% memorized, I did try and write it during HSC, but when there wasn't time I just did re-reading 1 line at a time and move on when it's completely memorized, however I did have to go back after a day, if not most of it would go away. From my experience: you must force yourself to write it down; to force a RECALL.
