How many people do Standard?
If your marks are consistently high then they may allow you to move up to Advanced English but you would probably have to talk to head of English about it first.
We're a top 20 school and have ~60 do Standard. ~130 do Advanced.
But i am wondering if there is much point.
That's the opposite of my school. Except my school is a 300-400 ranked school.
Ye, it was around ~20 at the start of Prelim then around 40 dropped.
What's your school rank? If it's top 100 the standard of work expected could be quite high in comparison with other schools. If you're happy with doing standard and you're willing to make an effort to be the top then you may as well stick with it.
Ranked 300-400's (But my year group is billions times better than last)
I guess you may be better off sticking with Standard then. You seem quite consistent as you're ranked 2nd. Just keep nagging your teacher for feedback on your work.

That's good then! That's how you improve in English. It also helps if your English teacher has experience in marking as they can share what markers look for & what they give top or low marks for.
