Not understanding this maths question entirely so any help would be appreciated.

Lines and intersect at an acute angle whose tangent is . FInd the possible values of .

I don't really understand the bit where it states 'whose tangent is 2/5'.
Thanks in advance

Click the fx button. Input your equation. Put [ tex] in front of the equation and [/ tex] at the back of it. (No spaces)

Are you sure this is the question? It's poorly worded.

First of all,

Let's see what we have. If the question was worded differently, one would interpret this,

The angle between two lines has a tangential value of .

Our angle between two lines formula, where and are our gradients.

We know our gradients,

Let and let

OR

I fixed it. The tangent was . Please write it carefully next time as you gave me ambiguous solutions.

Yeah just realised that I wrote 3/9 instead of 2/5, sorry about that. Why is the angle between the two lines referred to as the 'tangent'?

*Facepalm* Right, thanks heaps. I was thinking of a tangent to a line and completely forgot about that ;P

After learning Calculus, one would assume so. But this question should have been worded differently. Feel free to post more questions. Cheers.
