I am unsure how to study for assignments and do homework. Because recently i feel like I am working hard, but not smart.. and its really.. depressing.

Can someone please advise me on how to work on assesment tasks properly as well as doing homework correctly. (id like to get this problem fixed before the HSC!)

:)

Do what worked best for you this year. Stick with it. As time goes by, you will find ways to perfect your study technique.

Try using a study planner with hours on it. Put a cross through times when you cannot study. Fill in the free spaces with what you plan on doing or choose when it comes to that time.

You need to balance homework & assessment tasks. Try & get your homework done first then move onto the assessment task. Keep in mind the weighting of the assessment task too. If it weighs 5% then you can allocate more time to homework but if it's worth 35% you should definitely allocate a lot more time to the assessment task.

Are there any subjects in particular you want homework/assessment tips & advice for?

Yes, start earlier so you don't have to rush. By doing it earlier you can also split the assignment into pieces and do a bit here & there. You want to complete it 2-3 days in advance to have time to review it & catch up on any work you have missed due to that assignment.

Maths - Understand the concepts & do past papers. Try working out of 2 textbooks instead just the textbook you use at school. Some textbooks explain things differently & may help you understand the question more. When doing past papers try & identify what you need to do in that question in order to answer it.

English - Read all your texts (you should allocate time for this), hand in essays & creative writing to your teacher for feedback. Feedback is very important as it can tell you whether you're on the right track or not.

Physics - I find it easier to write notes alongside the dot points when studying. Also do past questions & make sure you know how to rearrange the formula & where each formula is used.

Excellent piece of advice. As the old saying goes, "the best thing you can do is make the right decision, the next best thing you can do is make the wrong decision. But the absolute worse thing you can do, is do nothing"
