Anyone like to share?

Or rather give approximations as to how much this would cost on average (per week) and approximations as to how much initial/extra costs may be applied.

I've googled some examples but some promary data would be nice. Please comment and give some good feedback. Thankyou.

Edit: I notice I mistyped "Macquarie". My apologies, mods feel free to rectify it.

I'm also interested in something like this. I'd love to live on Campus. I had to travel out to Mq just a few weeks ago from South West Sydney. I spent more time on the train than I did on Campus. I'm just not sure if I could afford it.

Depends on what kind of accommodation you are looking at, there's university accommodation and the prices are available here: http://www.accommodation.mq.edu.au/university-accommodation some of them have meals etc included and these will cost more, e.g. http://www.accommodation.mq.edu.au/university-accommodation/balaclava

Another option is to rent with friends, or there are lots of notices for a roommate around campus at the beginning of the year/semester.

Costs aside, if you live on campus, you will have a lot of fun. Remember camps in school? Well, it's kind of like that... except, add in a bar, drinks etc etc...

Other than moving, the only other way is to "justify" your travel time by either doing something whilst on transport or trying to timetable your day so that your time on campus is greater than your travel time.

as a general rule (bear with me), what would be the minimum travel time one would expect a uni student to make to get to uni?

Yea, I was considering just reading a book on the train, except its a hassle swapping between two trains. Also, i'm concerned that I might just get sick of the travelling and slowly just stop going to lectures.

Takes some people 15 minutes and others 2 hours.

Depends on where you live.

I try and stay productive on the train so as to not waste time. I actually get quite a bit done since there are less distractions.

If you don't mind me asking, how long does it take you?

It takes me 1.5hrs-2hrs getting to macq uni. If i drive it takes me an hour. Normally use the time on public transport to do some readings before going to the lectures.

To be honest over time you just get use to the travel time and find something productive to do. In my first two years i just use to sleep on the train.

Well, I spend 2 hours on public transport to get to uni... it all depends on how you arrange your timetable, and lol, I can do two iLectures in one day when I travel to uni... There isn't a standard amount of time, it's more a case of what you are willing to accept.
