You live with your husband for 15 years. You worked your ass off establishing where you are today. All of a sudden, he wants a divorce or something. Does this mean you're left with nothing?
You worked just as hard as he did, so you deserve half of it.
do you understand the concept of a prenup

edit: a lot of the time you didnt work as hard as he did lol

i would stipulate that in the case of a divorce, assets in my name before marriage remain mine, and for assets gained since marriage, income be calculated and assets divided according to income ratios

sounds fair

i make $800k in the 10yrs, she makes $600k, we split the joint assets 57/43

exactly. he may have worked hard bringing in the money, but she worked just as hard raising the kids (assuming she was a stay at home mum). different type of work but equally as important. she shouldnt be left with nothing. or even he if he becomes a stay at home dad.

um so get a pre nup saying that in the event of a divorce, assets are to be split equally

dude it's not just about making sure the dude gets to keep his money - say you become the higher income earner of the family and you contribute financially in a higher capacity than he does, when you split up do you want him to be able to take more than his reasonable share?

didn't think it that way.

I pose a question to you all: Say you're in love with this dude/chick and you want to marry him/her. He/she makes you sign a prenup saying if you get divorced, he/she gets everything including the kids. Would you still marry him? He/she is the love of your life btw.

so whose to put a price on the job it takes to raise kids?
its purely judgmental. i dont think you can put a price on raising kids.

also, a prenup would make each partner always have their guard up in their marriage. its like a constant contest. "shit if he starts making more money then me and divorces me, i wont be able to afford this lifestyle ive been living for the past 10 years. i better start working longer hours so get a promo even if that puts strain on my relationship"

hahahaha the dumbest, most naive question - typical for a 12 year old.

really though, does anyone actually know of people like this who exist? don't sign the pre nup, dont marry them and dont have kids with them

i mean use your brain, if somebody present this to you it'd be a pretty good early warning indicator to gtfo

the people within the relationship obviously
come to an agreement on the value of raising the kids between yourself

you can put a price on anything lol being a parent/raising kids =/= being a stay at home mum for 18yrs etc lol what a cop out

why is that any different to a normal outcome

bloke working has to constantly worry that if he finds out his misses is rooting his best mate behind his back he will lose his house and 80% of his income until the kids are 18 etc lol

okay scenario for you tards

consider this (actually happened)

this guy was a doctor specialising in some shit and idk making a couple of million dollars a year. anyway he had a break down and decided to go and work for some charity for 40k a year. his wife was like !~fuck dat111~ and divorced him, and put a claim in for alimony based on his capacity to earn, not his actual earnings.

the judge ruled that because he had the capacity to earn x million dollars but only chose to earn 40k was no excuse and originally ruled that the guy pay is retarded x wife some astronomical amount of cash dollars per month

what do u arse clowns think of this scenario

of course you wouldnt marry someone if you thought they may root your best mate lol that but no one ever gets into a relationship expecting their s/o to cheat on them yet it still happens in a very large amount of relationshipsss

cmon
