I've been reading different things in various text books. Some books say that red giants develop from main sequence stars below 5 solar masses and others say its 8 solar masses. Does anybody know the actual cut off?

Don't all stars turn into red giants between 0-10 solar masses and ones with solar masses greater than 11 turn in supergiants.
I think thats how it goes, but i'd check
