I had my eyes set on Mechanical Engineering, however job security is my main concern. I was just wondering what the job security would be like if i was to undertake a degree in Mechanical Engineering and whether it would be beneficial/smarter to choose another engineering stream.

generally engineering as a whole has great job security because engineers are always needed. but within engineering the best discipline in terms of job security and salary would be software engineering. Mechanical engineering also has pretty good job security so just go with what you enjoy.

I do engineering and I am almost 100% certain the best salaries are for Mining and Petroleum.
