ooh baby.

But srs, women are weaker and more emotional. As if you would look at a man and a woman the same inthe context of hiring someone as am employee. A woman gets emotional/has kids and takes time off/whatever. A man is less likely to let his children have such a big impact on his career. His wife is for that.

Like, my mum works in a hospital. Has the most flexible hours ever. Can leave when she wants etc. My dad has been working in a bank for 35+ years, works 10 hour days 6 days a week. Sometimes more. There's no way my mum could do that.

Fuck all this 'glass ceilng' bullshit. I'd like to see women try and do the work that top tier finance bankers do. That's why a majority are men. If women want to "close thegap" or whatever then work harder ffs. I think men have higher expectations placed upon them at work so fair enough they obviously earnt it.

Who the fuck cares. Women need to quit bitchin'.

Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks.
I'm no feminist but can't say I can agree with this.

One thing I have always found amusing is that so few women actually dare to nominate themselves as 'feminists' even though implicitly that's probably exactly what they are. Feminism is the belief that men and women should be attained equal rights, so in this sense, nearly everybody in the contemporary western world is a feminist. I think the biggest mental stopping block to women declaring explicitly that they are feminists is the general physical unattractiveness of feminists and the (correct) perception that explicit feminists are highly unattractive to men, particularly alpha males. Most men conceive feminists to be ugly, bitchy, sourfaced, shrill and obnoxious, and because the primary interest and concern of most women is to locate the alpha male and raise his children, associating one's self with such an unpleasant group is highly detrimental to attaining this fundamental goal.

But I don't believe that they are equal, we're not in so many instances that it would be ridiculous to say there is equality between the sexes when their blatantly isn't. However, in regards to equality on the whole yes but there is so much deviance between qualities it's almost impossible to make comparisons.

But in regards to working jobs that are high stress, require multitasking and making commitments and putting work first - women are just as capable.

I'm not a feminist or anything but in my experiences men and women had equal levels of intelligence.
wrong. Just look at the science departments of any universities. Men far out number women (if any women are present at all.)

Men and women have the same IQ (though this has been recently disputed by Helmuth Nyborg and Philippe J Rushton) but different cognitive profiles (visual-spatial advantage for men, verbal advantage for women), a different shaped bell curve (more male retards but also more male geniuses, more average females and fewer female outliers). They also have different psychological profiles which is probably the primary causative factor of most male and female socioeconomic disparities.

We're referring to legislative and social equality, not biological equality. Feminism at least as I conceived it was originally about men and women being treated the same and being awarded the same rights.

This thread's amusing. I'd like to think men and women are equal (or should be treated equally and suffer and bask in the same rights and justices) but I don't know enough to comment too far on the status of equality. It's my current understanding that women are disadvantaged in many aspects despite their equal (or greater) capabilities than men. I hope this changes soon.

The IQ of men has more at both end of the normal distribution curve. This is why there are far more male inventors, mathematicians and scientists than there are females. So yes, men are smarter and stronger than women. Women should stick to home caring imo.
Women were not given equal rights and were forbidden from receiving an education and that is why there are significantly more male inventors, mathematicians, and scientists in the past. It is now that women can receive educations that there are many more female scientists and buisnesswomen....just as a side thing it was thought that Einstein's wife might have had an influence on his theories.

I don't agree. I think the problem with this argument lies in the fact that it requires the person making it to ignore the left end of the bell curve while only focusing on the right. If the reason for a more greatly stacked right end of the bell curve when IQ is concerned in men is because of some nebulous, currently non-existent past discrimination against women then how on earth does this explain the other side? Are there more male retards and criminals because they have been afforded better access to education and more rights in the past? Its like trying to attribute a downward shift across generations in a phenotype to cultural values rather than the phenomenon of mean regression; doing so requires you to ignore the upward shift that is occuring at the same time.

Men still win the majority of Nobel Prizes these days.

I think great minds, and great people, should be praised to the same extents. Regardless of their gender, culture, religion etc.

Edit: cosmo, the resident statistician in the house? haha
