What that thing which is inevitable?

SS has it right, we should worry about immediate threats rather then pumping money (its seems only Aus is doing the pumping), into a scheme which will never work.
Oh really? We're the only ones doing the pumping? What retarded fucking parochial view do you need to take in order to come to that conclusion? What about Finland? What about The Netherlands? The UK? India? Norway? Denmark? Switzerland? Ireland? Costa Rica? Quebec? New Zealand? Korea? Germany? France? You ignorant fuck.

Holy fuck I probably understand better than you the predicted consequences

The governments current policy is not going to work, There are better ways of dealing with one of the greatest threats to humanity than some lame ass wealth re-distribution scheme

Its doing nothing to curb our emissions, its just a tax

get it through your head, we all know its happening, we all know the shit storm that is going to be the result of it, however most of us believe that the current policy propagated by our government will do nothing to alleviate the situation

to sustain our current activities we would need 1.21 earths, we obviously don't have that. So how about we think about sustainable resource management and consumption first and then think about fucking climate change
You just thirty seconds ago said climate change was dwarfed by more significant environmental issues, that was what I was commenting on hence the bold highlighting of that part of you post you imbecile.

Of course you didn't research it, this time or any other. Because you're an ignorant, parochial wanker who knows nothing about the issue yet feels justified in pontificating about it. And in answer to your question, because it can be stopped which you would know if you weren't about as well informed as a fucking Kardashian.

There was an ice age in the Pliocene Epoch, caused by climate change.

So unless the mammoths were setting up old school coal burning machines, how did the climate change so badly to the extent species died?

You're not seriously doubting the science of anthropogenic global warming are you?

One way or another, climate change is going to occur, and no amount taxing polluters is going to work.

Darling we are only delaying the inevitable.

If we're mitigating the damage we would be setting ourselves up for the floods and droughts we are going to get.

yes climate change is huge however in terms of giving a fuck about humanity the other issues I listed, though some are heavily linked with climate change, are much more pressing and immediate problems

If you want to slow down climate change than change your consumption habits, (I know I have) don't put some arbitrary tax on the people of this nation that will do nothing and will only cause illogical pain

Education is key

for instance you can't tax petrol and than magically have people subscribe to a greener alternative it just doesn't work, need face reality brah

something like petrol has practically inelastic demand, I know people that give up EATING FIRST, so they can fill up their cars to go to work. They sat there and made the decision to buy petrol instead of getting rid of their hunger lol. opportunity cost is a bitch

in short the future is bleak unless society changes their habits

arbitrary taxation is not a good method of achieving this

Education and the market will be the determinants

And once again if the government was actually serious and not a bunch of wealth redistributing socialists they would have done something practical by now

You may be, but we? Have you readsome of what the others have written. In the first instance fuel is exempt from the carbon price, in the second there is money going into these alternatives you refer to? When you say they would have done something by now, what you're overlooking is that the Rudd government initially pursued the approach of negotiating with the liberal and indeed successfully reach an agreement with the Liberal leadership over nearly a year of negotiations. The CPRS had considerably investment into alternative fuels and energy sources but ofcourse with both Abbott and Brown opposing it the CPRS became a dead-in-the-water policy and the government were forced to re-plan.

fuel may be exempt on paper but ofc we all know the interconnectedness of the economy will prove that to not be true

So 40 billion for a broadband network that the government can just start doing, billions into setting up national road and rail networks but when it comes to a mass infrastructure scheme for green energy suddenly shit hits the fan lol

inaction is better than misguided action

also you know most of the money is going in the wealth redistribution, and hardly any will get used for green energy

haha all three parties are stupid, build some fucking wind and solar farms, cut back on the entitlement system and foreign expenditure. Once that occurs the money will be there save this country for fossil fuel dependance in the long run

Well effectively it is true thanks to the generous compensation schemes built included into the clean energy bill, the people who will see a genuine increase in their cost of fuel consumption are hardly going to be those who you refered to before as not eating to buy fuel.

It's not spare change, they are throwing real money at what they call green energy alternatives, the solar cities programme, the restructured home insulation plan, the carbon farming initiative, the smart grid smart city initiative, to name a few.

I think you'll find the two governing parties do have a commitment to wind and solar energy, the coalition a commitment to nuclear. You do realise that the investment into green energy programs is not exclusively going to be funded by the Clean Energy Bill right?
