I know it seems like a waste :p oh well it will look good that we tried :)

Hahaha shhh my dogs are my life :p lol. Oh I don't have foxtel to miss lol

I'm not sure about the date. But out of curiousity, I tried to accept my offer, but when I followed the steps and logged in online, it said to select the link of my course... but there was no link lol so I have to ring but the uni :( lol

Sadly, foxtel is my life.

Dam. Hopefully it works later on. Have you heard from anyone else that tried for PRS and did/didn't get it? From people I've spoken to from past years it seems like anyone who tried gets in which is pretty good i suppose.

Aww same :) I just accepted my offer lol I rang up cause there was a stuff up with my login and he just accepted it for me even though I was just asking how long do we have to accept the offer.. oh well hahaha

And also, when I rang up, he said the sooner you accept your offer, the quicker you get to choose your classed and time slots etc. But you have until the uni starts to accept your offer but I wouldn't wait till then :p

Sorry, you have confused me. What do you mean you have to wait till uni starts before you can accept your offer?

I thought you would just choose your classes and times when you got there

Re: Going to Canberra Uni next year?

Firstly just wondering if either of you are planning to do the Winter Term. If not, do you plan on staying on campus for the almost 3 and a half month break or going home?

I don't think my course offers it, and was planning on just getting a bus home over the Winter break and those 2 x week breaks. The problem i see with this is i see that it is going to be really hard to find a job where you disappear for 1 week every 7 weeks and then for 3 months months during the middle of the year and a couple of months at the end of Christmas. Don't think the manager would really appreciate that.

I understand it may be different for you's because you are on campus and would have to pay for rent, but will you be going home? Just don't see how anyone would want to hire someone in my position when they could get someone who is there all year round

Honestly, I probs be staying, maybe go home for like a week to see the family if not then probs not. Alot of jobs, specially retail, won't let you take time off in summer for instance. If going home will make me lose my job then I'll stay, because I know there will be another chance.
Plus, living on campus we pay for like 40weeks or something so it would be a waste of money if I wasn't there.

This is the dilemma I faced this year. I didn't work this year, basically just lived off savings and centrelink. Sports Media, if they follow the same as this year, only has one unit in the winter term, given you pass all the first 4 units of the course in the first semester, so this is something you might want to consider. If you have a job while you are here, then... well, one unit is sorta worth it. If that's all you're gonna do though... it would get quite boring I think.
This year though, I'll probably stay for winter term, mainly because we're paying rent for that time period, whether we're there or not.

Re: Going to Canberra Uni next year?

It wouldn't be such a bad thing if i could get payments from centreline. But because my parents combined payment is over the threshold and because my sister isn't studying or something, i get nothing. And the stupid thing is, they won't give you any rent assistance unless your already on the youth allowance or something. So you either have to be one 2 payments or none. Bloody government (I hope there not reading this)

Oh, i didn't know it ran over the winter term. Is there an option of picking up more then just one unit and finishing the whole course early? Im staying with a relative so the rent issue is a bit different. Ive got a pretty good paying job back at home that i have the option to come back to, so i have to way up if i just stay down there pretty much all year and keep a job, or not work in Canberra and try and survive until i can get back home and earn decent money.

You'd have to check out when each unit is being run. Some units are only run in semester one, or only in semester two, or only in winter term AND either semester one or two. If you want to check it out to be 100% sure when each unit is being run, you can search the units on the website, and the whole list of units we need to do are all listed on the Sports Media course outline, also on the website
