Hey all BOS-ers!!

Would anybody recommend some effective study tips?
Does the way you arrange your desk prompt you to study in a certain manner, does it determine how much you study?
How do you concentrate longer?
REALLY need some EFFECTIVE study tips by successful HSC candidates from past years:)

Thanks!

1. Study with no distractions
2. For me it helped to have a clean/organised desk rather than sheets everywhere
3. Dont know just make sure you eat and drink enough water while you are studying, take breaks as well dont study for hours on end

Study : Break ratio = 1 : 1

Seems stupid, but it worked to keep my motivation high.

I like to keep my desk clean and tidy. Helps makes studying easier.

I concentrate best at around 7pm onwards.

The best thing for studying is ambition.

But, sometimes I'm bogged down by pressure, I lose motivation and Ambition? However, I persis studying and it returns!
Haha 1:1 ratio system:)

BTW, Is "Burn Out" a myth, or is it real?
It's real.

Think about a hard workout. Eventually, you just reach a stage where you're thinking 'screw this, I'm not doing it anymore, this hurts too much' and you give up.

Burning out for studying is the mental equivalent for this.

pretty sure youre gonna burn out lol. dont study 7pm to 2am with no breaks. Theres no point anyway after a while youre not studying effectively and youre just wasting your time because your brain isnt taking in everything

Yes, study how you have been in the past. HSC year is not the time to experiment.

Try not to burn out, but that said- put in your best effort and hopefully you will get a good result.

Check out the pomodoro technique:

http://www.pomodorotechnique.com/

Study for 25mins, take a break for 5mins. Do that 4 times (2hrs) and then take a longer break. I find it affective because you just have to concentrate for short bursts, and it makes work seem less daunting when its broken down into 25min segments. There's pomodoro apps for the android (Pomodroido is one) and I'm sure there's some for the iPhone as well.
