would i need to talk about da vinci and buffon in an evaluate/assess question?

Hey jnney,

It shouldn't be necessary. Concentrate on refining your details re:

e.g. Darwin's conflict with the Church (which had yet to be severed from the state)
#Christians believed Earth was only 6 000 years old. This idea remained unchanged for ages ... 17th and 18th century biology consisted mainly of describing plants and animals .... there was virtually no attempt to explain how they got that way ...
#God made us but we're related to apes?!?

e.g. 19th century: France encouraged liberal thinking vs. England rigid in ideologies
# post-French revolution: idea of evolution was strongly associated with radical scientific and political views coming out of France (Age of Enlightenment there) hence, many considered it a threat to established order in Britain

Remember: don't bother about how the theory of natural selection influenced Hitler, Karl Marx, etc. etc. Some textbooks like to add that stuff in but the dot point doesn't ask for it at all!
