I've been having much confusion and questions about the scaling of marks,

Say a person attends a school within the 300s ranking but performs within the top 10 of their year with a close gap between each of their marks, for example 1st has a percentage of 96% in a Internal Subject whilst 2nd has 94% - would those 10 students be scaled down due to their cohorts who perform much lower than they are? Also which mark is scaled down, the Exam mark or the Internal mark?

What would the ATAR of a student with these ranks in a 300s or 200s ranked school be? Would they scale those marks down? ( When 1st to 5th's marks are very close)

3/28 Advanced English 89%
5/21 Maths 3U 85%
2/23 Industrial Technology 93%
5/19 Engineering 90%
3/25 Ancient History 91%
2/24 Information Processes & Technology 92%
6/17 Business Studies 91%

The person coming first will NEVER be affected by scaling - first is given the highest exam mark as the internal mark. Your grade has no effect on your exam mark - only your internal mark. The actual mark that you get in school does not matter. It's all moderated to match your exam marks so if most of your grade is 40% internally and you all get 90+ externally then your internal mark will match to become spreaded in the 90s specifically depending on the relative gaps and top/bottom mark.

You should be getting about 85-90 ATAR and those marks may scale either way but it will be fair since it is based on your top exam and bottom exam marks and the relative gaps in between. In your case, your internal marks should be very close to the top exam mark.

These will be the subjects that will most likely count. You can improve all-round by a few ranks each.

Scaling has nothing to do with your school.
I think you mean the process of moderation. TBH moderation should not really affect your mark.
Going to a higher ranked school gives you a bit of cushion to fall on but thats about it.
People who say they only did shit because they go to a shitty school dont know what theyre talking about.
