Life, Death & Immortality Texts! NEED HELP! (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I have an english assessment task where I have to analyse two texts (one visual and one print) and identify the notions of Life, Death and Immortality conveyed in the texts. I also have to answer how the composer communicates these notions...

I need help finding texts, what defines a good text to use? what should i be looking for in texts to use?

It would be great if any suggestions or help about the task could be posted below.

A lot of good texts will exhibit a lot of ideas like Power, Journey, Life, Death etc.
I recommend:

Harry Potter and the Order of the PHoenix/Deathly Hallows

The problem with that is, that they are quite long, and unless you like Harry Potter, it might be difficult to choose it. But I consider them excellent texts to do for Life and Death, and for Deathly Hallows Immortality. Well the whole of Deathly Hallows, is trying to make an immortal man, mortal again then kill him and save the wizarding world. What more could you want!

This text is based around mortality more than anything else. Do you think maybe its a problem that the theme of life isn't as significant...

No-one else in my grade is doing Harry Potter for power, so I dont think its very overused (but hey, maybe my cohort are a bunch of HP haters!). Also my English teacher thinks it is great, consult with your teacher, if Harry Potter seems too cliche, then alternatively you could pick a Shakespeare play:

Macbeth

In my theoretical view, an English marker may see the text and say (wow this guy actually bothers to do shakespeare!) and you might get marked well for it. It is my personal Shakespeare favourite.

Ultimately, explore options with your teacher, ask if Harry Potter is a good choice, but I should of probably forewarned you of this. It might be better if you read the whole series, or at least know what happens, because otherwise you might be hard to read. But if you have already read it, then definitely do it. I am just saying that it might be a harder text to do, if you dont know what Harry Potter is, but Google is always there to help
But also, if you do try to do Harry Potter, there are many fansites, which analyse characters and themes etc. Some of which I have used in my practice essays.

Okay that's good to hear then. Is your AOS Life, Death and Immortality too? Or did I interpret that you're doing 'Power'?
Yeah actually Shakespeare plays would be really good to do, but aren't they all on the HSC list (not allowed to choose texts from that list)?

Yeah that's very true about Harry Potter, Im sure there is endless resources on the internet for it haha.

Yes I am doing Power, but like I said, a lot of texts can be interpreted different ways to cover many AOSs. (Actually I want to do Life, Death and Immortality, but I got Power, oh well)
Also Macbeth is not on the HSC list, Im pretty sure Hamlet is though

I could argue that death and mortality go hand in hand, just like for example the concept of justice and injustice, the existence of one is inevitable without the other. However you are right in that it does not rely heavily on the preconceived idea of "Mortality". On the other hand, be a bit cheecky and you can pick up ideas of mortality.

It is a great read though.
