So, coming second last in ex maths, advanced maths, english ex 2, physics, last in economics, eng ex1 and middle range for eng adv in a cohort of 300 at a top 10 high school in the state, do I have much hope or am I just plain fucked?

Depends, since your coming last in nearly everything, its hard to say, depends on how you do externally really and how strong the other people at the bottom are. It also depends on your aims (if you want 85+, you probably have a strong chance, over 90 maybe, over 95 highly unlikely).

Doctor or lawyer? Come on, does society think there's only really 2 real jobs now? The beauty of Australia is the wonderful variety of jobs to choose from through university :D Cheer up!

To be honest, law isnt in the same league as medicine anymore. Law is on par with most other professions nowadays.

Well, at least you're in a top 10 school. It's not super bad, but it's not good either.

Well the motivation is there, but I just can't imagine myself doing anything else and I honestly have tried. Law is there because i've been told to go for it since I was in year 5, god knows why - apparently I can have a good banter. Medicine has only come to me recently as I really liked the idea of having financial, social security and a super high chance of employment all over the world, considering you take the course at a well known university. As for every other course out there, I just have nought interest.

If "the idea of having financial, social and security and a super high chance of employment all over the world" is the reason you want to do Medicine, then you shouldn't be considering it at all. That is the wrong mindset for medicine.

But that's pushing it isn't it? To get my original atar aim of 98-99 is pretty much unreachable even if I work super hard, right? Maybe 95+ is a tad more reasonable, suggesting I kill my trials? Or am I still in dreamland?

Fuck. I know right. Regardless, there are more kids out there advertising only the financial benefits of med and getting in. Great.

I agree with this, med is the kind of degree which requires a degree of passion. However financial status/security and employability are important factors when searching for a career.

Yeah, I admit I don't have a passion for it whatsoever, hence why I never wanted to do it in the first place. So I guess it's Law for me, but my ATAR isn't looking too good...

Do you have a passion for Law? Do you think you can cope with the lifestyle?

In all honesty, you might end up with about 70 and killing your trials, well it wont magically happen you have to work for it.

Agreed, saying you're going to kill that trials is one thing, actually doing it is quite another.
