I was wondering about alternatives for just say.. if I don't get the ATAR I need for my course ( Psychology ~98@usyd/unsw ). 98 is a big ask for me considering that I'm not willing to put the effort into getting a 98, I know I can, but i'm simply too lazy. But I think I can end up with a low 90's or possible a 95-96. So just say that I end up getting 94.5, What options do I have and how many extra years do I have to go through in uni??

Try harder. Theres only 6 months left. If you cant make it into UNSW/USYD you should also probably look at MACQ whose cutoff is around 94/95 i believe.
B.Psych guarantees you an honours
Any other degree (e.g. b.arts/b.sci) with a Psych major does not guarantee the honours year so you have to compete with others. And since you have to do honours to become fully qualified, its very competitive.
You should probably try to fix the laziness thing because there are a lot of psych grads and having bad grades/ not getting into honours is going to leave you jobless. you have to study for ~7 years to become a fully qualified psychologist as well so its hard work.

As long as you get into any uni course (preferably in the same uni) then if you get good grades in that course you can transfer to your desired course
But you will definitely work on your laziness problem. Get motivation by making yourself long and short term goals, etc

you can always go to a second preferred university. Or you can do a course, then transfer after year into your desired course, but for now focus on maximising your ATAR

You should look for something else in my opinion. If you put your laziness on top of your goal and future, then of simply shouldn't be aiming for 98.

I think you are being an enabler in this situation. I could get it but I don't want to work? Pft. barrier cause you are insecure. Work hard and see if you can get it, even if you fall a bit short, you'll be able to get into a course you want anyway, maybe scraping in with bonus points.
It's not the fact that I put my goal on top of my future.
It's because I know that having a good ATAR isn't a win all or end all, as I'd rather do shit in school and do well in uni, than do good in school, but shit in uni. I know that their are other pathways to psych and I just want to see if it's worth it.

Fair enough. Keep in my that doing well now well save you a year or 2 trying to get into psychology through a different pathway. Wouldn't u rather get in straight away rather than wait? Why do u think that if u do well at school ull do shit at uni? that doesn't make sense.

Although tbh, I do believe that if you do B Arts or B Science (majoring in psychology), you will have more options to combine with other degrees, and thus apply psychology a lot elsewhere. So you may possibly choose to do honors in something else.
However, OP, your call. Work hard now and try to get 98 so you can make your choices as large as possible. (Y)

Why is it one or the other. Why cant you do well at school AND uni.
Old habits die hard. At uni you'll also probably tell yourself you only need a pass to get a degree. Because lets face it, doing well at uni 'isnt a win all or end all' either.

Why wouldn't reaching your 'ATAR goal' be worth the 'effort'?
There are two ways to reach a destination:
i)A single straight road through the city
ii) a windy footpath through the forest that probably disappears off under the dirt half way.
Are you telling us that you want to take option B?
Just give it ago, don't lose hope.
Also, keep in mind that your attitude to study will also be reflected in university. You can change it, but that takes time.
