Hey guys,

School Rank: Varies with year - last year was mid 40s but that's pretty much the lowest its been. Generally in the 30s.

I got my half yearly report this time and here's my results:
SUBJECT - EXAM RANK - EXAM MARK - OVERALL RANK

English (Advanced) - 13/153 - 87% - 82/153
Chemistry - 13/59 - 88% - 11/59
Physics - 34/75 - 82% - 5/75 [Very unfair exam - wrong answers as right (bad marking scheme), poor questions (unclear), right answers marked as wrong etc]
Mathematics Extension 1 - HSC Mark 46 (Assessment: 45 Exam: 46)
Mathematics Extension 2 - 21/32 - 66% - 24/32

Personal Estimate (HSC Marks)
English (Advanced): 85
Chemistry: 86
Physics: 90
Mathematics Extension 1: 91 [Based on HSC Mark]
Mathematics Extension 2: 84
ATAR: ~97

You can exceed you're estimate in English. I'd say a band 6 at least, considering your mark and ranking atm

I'm definitely sure it's above 95 based on the course ranks and considering that my sister's year was one of the worst years and got over 94 with poorer ranks. My English will probably (90% chance) increase to around 45/153 since that was my rank last year - my teacher expects me to get a Band 6. My Chemistry should increase as well as Physics depending on if they write fairer exams and marking schemes.

It would be hard since the teacher who marked the first assessment gave great marks (13+/15) to people in her class which do mostly poorly (sub-11/15) in other assessments.

Wow mate your ranks have dropped quite a bit for English, Phys and Chem since your last estimate.

Rather than ~98, I'd now have to say ~ 95.8 - 96.7

Yeah, I know.

My Physics only dropped due to unfair marking which I'm going to dispute soon. Chemistry dropped which was disappointing and English hasn't had a lot of marks to base on - the first assessment was where strangely, lots of people got 13-15/15 and a lot of those were in the marker's class. That class usually does the poorest of all classes, too...sad, I know.

Wow that sucks. Get back up and ace your trials bro! BTW, my school got a teacher that used to teach at your school for Maths.

Our school's Maths faculty is quite good - I'd say it's definitely in the top 3 with one of the others being the History faculty. They're willing to help you at anytime and their exams abd marking are very much like the HSC.

You know, considering how much I study, my ranks are quite good. I pretty much never pick up a book or pen outside of school time...

Maths is good because you have an accelerated program, which obviously requires much organisation on the teachers part. How's the new Physics/Chemistry teacher at your school? And get studying! since you can probably get into UWS Medicine (assuming you are a GWS resident), so go hard!

Yeah, Maths is very, very organised here. In 4U, one class for past accelerants and one class for non-accelerants - everything is top notch.

From what I've heard, the new Chemistry teacher is very good and is currently teaching Industrial Chemistry but I'm not in her class. Yeah, I'm a GWS resident but knowing the cut-off is 93.50, I get more worried about UMAT and the Interview rather than my ATAR.

My "Need 95" is only there to secure a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) at USYD if I can't get into MBBS at UWS. The worst that could really happen is if I get under 90-95 ATAR - in that case, I'd have to go to UNSW for Bachelor of Science (Advanced Science).

97, English rank is the hinderance, but you had a good exam rank so you can probably push your overall up with the next (two? or maybe three?) tasks.

Yeah, it's just the first assessment that dragged me down since so many people got high marks (much more high marks than usual). I should be able to catch up to ~40 later on.
