yeh you can only do one major, but while we are on the topic, is it possible to complete commerce honours during the 5 year degree? (as in complete your commerce major and then do honours in ur 4th or 5th yr while studying law?

Honours in Commerce
The BCom degree is available with Honours. This requires an extra year of study between Years 3 and 4. Students interested in studying at Honours Level should refer to the relevant Honours plan record for entry requirements.

Students undertaking the dual Bachelor of Commerce at Honours level may be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Commerce at Honours level once they have completed the Honours year and the requirements of the first three years of the dual Bachelor of Commerce at Honours Level.

Moral of the story: read the handbook entry first

won't be allowed to do more than 1 major unless if you spend more time at uni, which is what I am planning to do.

ah ok, because i was reading the Usyd website and it said that its possible to do 2 comm majors in Comm/Law:

"Possible major combinations for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws with permission to exceed degree credit point requirements by 18 credit points"- from this site http://sydney.edu.au/business/course/FH048

and if you need 96 UOC, and majors are 48 UOC each...why can't you do two??

Yeah read what forum's you're in: "University of New South Wales". The situation might be different at Sydney.

UNSW Commerce has you do Core Courses which don't count towards your major. Like, you have to do Microeconomics, Accounting, Finance and Marketing... and these count towards your 96 uoc and yeah. You simply will run out of credit points if you try to do 2 Commerce majors.

You can do two majors if you decide to overload (more subjects per semester), summer school or extend the degree length.
However a lot of us that do Comm/Law only are seeking to do one major.
