Hi peeps out there
I'm new to this forum and have a few questions regarding Maths Acceleration.Im in Year 9 atm and currently attend a partially selective school.Maths is no doubt my strongest subject so i was wondering if the average high school offered 2 unit maths acceleration in year 10 and 3 unit in year 11-what i aim to do.Also if i was allowed, will i still be attending my normal maths class or not and how i am going to do school assessments required for the HSC.
Thanks.

I am not too sure. For our school, acceleration for maths starts in year 9 (when the entire year 9 and 10 courses are completed) so that in year 10, the 2U and 3U courses can be started. If you are in the top maths class, you are required to accelerate at our school. By the way, if you are in year 9 then shouldn't your HSC be 2015?

Thanks for the reply!
If thats the case i guess my school doesent have 2U for year 10(havent finished yr 9&10 syllabus) and probably no acceleration at all in year 10.Just hope there will be 3U course in yr11 which is most important to me.And yes,my Hsc is in 2015,so i got heaps of time to study and get through my textbooks!

Just one more thing,do all assessment tasks on that accelerataed year count towards my hsc assessment course?

Syllabus would probably have changed by then, so you won't be learning 3U but Specialist Mathematics (unconfirmed).

Yes those marks do count, only if you are sitting the HSC course and not the preliminary HSC course.
