Wow, im also shocked that a band 6 is equivalent to 77-78/105!!! Double checking incase ive completely missed the point?

I know then that i shouldnt be using my trial mark as an indication because according to that indicated mark my teachers must be way too lenient.

...Still cant believe it!

IGNORE this post, just read thru the entire attached document and its all good.

Also just noticed that the raw marks are out of 100 in the doc. so a 79/100 in the doc is equivalent to approx 82/105 for us

BTW, how do you receive the Raw mark of the exam? I thought that at the end you would only receive your overall moderated mark, not your raw mark from the HSC exam? Can someone clarify?

Thanks

yes...but if you are coming first in your school, then it will also be your HSC mark given that u also came first in the externals
What if you are ranked second internally by ~1% and beat first rank externally by ~10%, how would your HSC mark be affected?

For your external- you get what you get in hsc
For your internal- you will get second ranked external mark

HSC MARK- avg the 2

I dont think this is correct. Ive heard that first you take the proportion you were behind (1st place) by in your internal (by taking the lowest and highest mark in your class to set up a new field between 100 and 0). Then the lowest and highest external mark in your class is taken. Your new 'internal' mark holds that same proportion behind the top mark in the HSC exam. Very hard to explain with words.

In the grand scheme of things, you being behind by less than 1%, ESPECIALLY in a class where the top and bottom marks were very far apart, will make VERY little difference. You will still end up with a bees dick under the top mark for your internal part; considering what im saying is correct

lol just because you meet the cut-off requirements for band 6 in english does not mean that you will get it, you must also have a high internal mark.
what if you are ranked first and meet the cut-off req???

People will say "Dude I smashed it! 19/20!" Then they actually get a 14 or 13.
The paper was harder than previous years (both papers).

But U can't forget that your internal mark is also played around with greatly...depending of course on your class performance.

Absolutely right. I walked out of English last year thinking I got like 100+/105 lol. Ended up with a high band 6, but still not what I thought.

Alignment significantly affects your atar. 70% in english advanced is significantly different to 80 in english advanced when that mark is sent of to UAC which then scales it to your actual ATAR.

I read an article about alignment from the BOS and it said it has no actual effect on your ATAR

me = confused
