My first car was a modified excel, was yellow with a body kit, HIDs and everything. Then that became my brothers and I now have a N15 SSS Pulsar which I drove around with a pretty loud exhaust for a year - got a resonator in it recently so it's not quite as bad.
Those cars are the definitions of cop bait, very surprising that you haven't been pulled over.

I know! I don't do a heap of driving but I have driven past plenty of cops so I guess I'm just lucky. You have an EK right? (think I read that), how's attention from cops like in them?

Anyway, on topic, @seremify do you have the Evo and the c250 or just the merc?

Just the Merc. Traded in the Evo when I got the C250.
Was thinking that initially but wasn't sure after your last post. So you completely against modifying it? Intake, exhaust and a tune would probably be good id imagine if you don't have to worry about warranty.

I got burnt modifying the Evo with I/E + custom tune with a huge bill in unpredictable maintenance costs. I don't really feel the need to modify the Benz as from the factory it's actually producing decent figures (148kW at the wheel compared to 150kW per the brochure!) and the surge of torque is exciting enough. I've had the car nearly 18 months and apart from the wrap, haven't felt the need to mod it. Maybe I'm just old now :) Besides, I got the corporate pack to get the extra warranty + all my servicing and maintenance included in the purchase price.

Yeah i have an EK, stock except for Domo hanging from the rear view mirror :p I'm not sure if its because i have my L's or if its because of the car, but it attracts a lot of attention from the cops for a stock civic.... I am resisting the temptation to modify it because i know if i do, i will get screwed over the second i'm on my p's.

Well if you are already getting pulled over a few subtle mods should be fine! Nothing obviously defectable though.

What is the level of modification you can do on a car before they can defect?

Problem is that cops don't appreciate stancenation style mods like mad tyre stretch and camber lol. Really no point wasting money, saving for an r32 gtr when i'm off my p's as a weekend car.

Law is extremely vague about what has to be engineered and what you are actually allowed to do as a p plater.

Lol that stuff looks ridiculous IMO - especially on Hondas. R32 GTR would be nice if you could find a clean one - might not be an easy task though.

Tbh i don't think you can do anything as a p plater, it says no engine modifications but every single p plater has an exhaust etc. It really depends on the type of cop you get.

You can't tell me this isn't nice, something clean and tidy like this would be good.

Yeah, most have been trashed and are rubbish. If i can just get a clean and slightly modified one that would be good, buying one off the jdmst forums would be good as most of the guys on there look after their cars.

We are starting to go waaaaaay off topic now, maybe start a stance discussion thread lol? But that civic would scrape everywhere, too many speed bumps and stuff in Australia - just doesn't work. If I was going to pour a heap of money into something impractical a civic wouldn't be my choice.

i don't mind going O/T in what wasn't a technical thread to begin with.

as for ur last comment, i don't think people always plan their mods/car that much but rather, it kinda just happens. i wasn't into modding cars when i got the civic but a year later, i had ordered mugen wing from japan, rockford amp/sub, filter, grille, etc.. and another year later it had the full mugen kit on it, apexi rsm, mb quart splits, k&n typhoon, and various other small things. totally wouldn't have spent that much coin on a car which wasn't going to get fast and had i known i would buy an evo a year or so later.

I call it mod fever.
Got a twobros exhaust, quickly jumped onto a upgraded MOSFET charging system, looking at derestricting the engine and putting a race tail on it.

That's why i can't justify spending any money on it, after all it is still a slow civic lol. I might start a stance thread.

I wouldn't attempt any performance mods on a car that'll never be quick. Just isn't worth the money.

$40k trade in to a dealer. Had a mate who was willing to pay more but given the time pressure and I needed to settle it quickly so I could buy the Benz before 30/6, I just went with the dealer offer.

Unlike most other cars, Evos have a very small number of buyers in terms of the car yards. As a result with such a small number of buyers on the panel, there isn't a whole heap of price difference between them all ($38k and $41k was the range). Ultimately it was the changeover price which mattered to me and surprisingly, Audi kept trying to push their A4 2.0 auto with B&O, S-Line, sensors, etc to me. They were even willing to do changeover at <$20k which would've meant they discounted an $81k car to sub $60k. Pity I thought the steering sucked otherwise I may be an Audi driver now.

Well quick is quite relative lol, and with stuff like exhaust/intake there's other benefits too.

As in, non-performance benefits :) Don't get me wrong, I fitted a pod filter to the Civic. Didn't go any faster but sounded heaps better.
