Hi guys,
I've been working for a month now and got told that, should I fail to provide my TFN by the end of this week, my pay will be taxed (and hence the total amount deducted). Similarly, I cannot apply for HECs as I don't have a TFN and amenities fees for uni is due this Friday. I have been phoning ATO almost daily now and their reply is always the same: "oh we haven't processed it yet". When I press on the matter, they ask me if it has been twenty eight days since I have applied. As I can't remember the exact date, I tell them I'm not sure although its been the fourth week since I have posted the letter. Apparantly that wasn't good enough and I got told to stop phoning them as there wouldn't be any results.

I am very worried. What should I do?

keep doing what you're doing. You really should've figured this out long ago but it's too late for that now. Your pay will be docked but you'll get it back when you submit the TFN.

This. Also if you are running out of time and they still haven't processed it yet, I would highly recommend going to one of their offices/shop-fronts in parramatta. I got my TFN and everything sorted on the same day when I went to their head office in parra (inside westies at tht time). < This was a while ago, so you may like to google their shop-front locations and see which one is closest to you.
Good luck :)

Edit: You may have to make an interview appointment before going to one of the shop-front. I didn't bother and just turned-up on the day and had to wait a while before I could see em due to ppl waiting for an interview (those who had booked earlier).
