I just moved to Aus so i don't know much about the study here.
I got one problem: I got enough 10 Unit for HSC course but i still need 2 unit more in Preliminary course ( i only have 10 units in preliminary course at the present), so my school ask me to do the Business for Prelim Course. But Business is too difficult for me, and that means my assessment mark is very bad ( 7/20, 17/50 ). My question is: if i get very bad mark like this can i pass the prelim course?
p/s: it's very sad that i can't go to uni just because of the prelim course @@ Someone read this, please answer me? Thanks

Preliminary course? Aren't you doing the HSC at the moment? And I don't know how your school works, but you don't have to pick up 2 more units if you don't want to. You can undertake 10 units of work for the HSC, but the marks you achieve will all be counted towards your ATAR.

I study year 11 and 12 in one year (term 1 is the preliminary, and then next term is the HSC), and you must complete 12 unit for Preliminary ( it's compulsory )
p/s: maybe my English is not very good, it might make you not understand fully what i mean :)

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but are you saying you are attempting to complete both the Preliminary and HSC course in two terms?

My school is similar to TAFE, you can complete year 11 and 12 just in one year(Term 1 is study for Preliminary, begin with term 2 is HSC) But one thing my school does not like TAFE is the assessment for year 11 is separate from assessment for year 12. In TAFE they get your mark on assessment to both year 11 and 12.

The only marks that should matter are the marks you get in your HSC Assessments, not the preliminary ones

True, but you must satisfactorily complete the Preliminary course to be allowed continue to the HSC course. However, in the case of the OP, this requirement is only for courses which you intend on continuing to the HSC, so it should be fine even if he doesn't satisfactorily complete it - he should drop it in that case.

AnhTuan may well be a fee-paying overseas student from Vietnam - so may not be very well-versed with the NSW HSC. If this is the case, he'll need extra patient help.
