I'm afraid that the question is nonsense. With those resistances and a 12V power source, the current through the ammeter should be just over 1A, and the voltage should read about 1.6V. When you insert false readings like this into an imaginary circuit, the answers you get will vary depending upon your method. Tell your teacher he/she doesn't understand circuit theory.
