By index laws:
1/x^(1/2)
Take it to the top and differentiate:
x^(-1/2)
-1/2 . x^(-3/2)
-1/2x^(3/2)

Thanks... I haven't learnt that yet!You can also do it using the quotient rule (i.e. (u'v-v'u)/v^2) but that would require more simplifying.
Then G of N: -1/2What is the gradient of 4x+2y+7=0? -2 (y=-2x - 7/2)... I had done this...What would the gradient of the normal to this line be? 1/2
How do we get the tangent to a curve y=x^2+4x-1? I got y'= 2x +4.../COLOR]Interperet this with the gradient of the normal
