Study.
The night before I just do 1-2 past papers and go over weak topics.

My teacher says doing past papers isn't studying. I've done millions of past papers but I feel guilty every time I open one up like I'm not doing anything productive

I'm in a pretty tough situation to rectify though. I have done a couple of past hsc's (could resist even though I should save them) and heaps of trials from a lot of different schools and I am averaging about 93%. But this is spending an hour and a half of question 1-9 and giving up on question ten after about another half an hour. It's question ten that Is fucking me up. I can do every other question with sillies here and there but I don't see how I can study for question ten. It's no particular area that I am failing at, it is problem solving.

Yeah, question 10s can be tricky at times. You should then just maybe do Q 9s and 10s? The only way you can study for it is to practice it. Just try your best. If you've tried it a million times, look at the answer and try to understand it. And then what you would've learnt here, you can apply to other question 10s. Good luck.

Is anyone else finding the past papers for CSSA extremely difficult and time consuming?

At the rate I'm going, I don't think I'll finish...

I've noticed that the last few years (2010-12) are a lot easier than the papers before them.

1995 - 2010 are alright. But 2011 and 2012 are more challenging.

I hope this year's isn't too bad.

If you're confident with let's say Q 1 - 8, then just do 9 and 10. What I do with the older papers is go through them and identify all the questions I think I'll find challenging/hard and do those, and leave the easy ones out. Saves time.

Haha, this year's test was much harder than the 2010-2012. Q16 was a good one :p

you can't revise maths as you do rote-learn subjects like biology, agriculture etc. your study for maths should have been accumulated over the course of the year. assuming you have been practising textbook questions for each topic everytime you learn it, you don't have to do anything the day before. thats why i love maths exams. no stress haha. why do you think past papers are 'bad' revision lol, theyre really good for practising time management. personally, i hate doing work at school during class, cause i get hungry, the classroom smells like shit, etc, not a good place to concentrate. i just try to listen to the teacher when we get new topics and then go to the library and teach myself from the textbook.
