Sketch the locus (1 Viewer)

Hello All,

If I were to sketch the locus and hence write it's equation...

A point P(x, y) which moves so that its distance from the x axis is 3 times its distance from the y axis.

No it would be a pair of straight lines.

The distance of P from the x axis is |y|.
The distance of P from the y axis is |x|.

So you get |y|=3|x|, which simplifies to y=+/- 3x
