empirically false

right, the person who thinks we should open the floodgates to poor immigrants is complaining that we dont spend enough on pensioners

nice job dummy
What the hell are you talking about? Look at Australia projected living standards in a decade from now. It is projected to decline, while China's is improving.

Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt. You will learn to show some respect to your intellectual superiors. Hit the bricks pal and beat it because you are going out. The leads are weak because your weak.

and then we are all complaining when the government cuts middle class welfare? Seriously I support a minimum payment to people at risk but there are way to many people leaning on the welfare system e.g. lazy people, people abusing drugs, cigarettes and alcohol who are reducing the efficiency in providing for those who are actually in need of assistance. Now in terms of fairness it should be promoted slightly and any people at risk should be supported to a "livable" standard but once we start going hey we all need to be equal you can start looking at Mr Marx's writings. Anyway we are a capitalist society and the rich get rich by a mix of skills and luck e.g. Nathan Tinkler, Warren Buffet, Rupert Murdoch, Bill Gates

Once they get rich, they can get only richer and richer. Same applies for the opposite. That's the problem.

nope

although the wealth of the wealthiest percentiles continually grows, a large portion of those that make up that bracket are constantly changing

similarly a lot of those who are in the poorest bracket aren't the same people from year to year

Some male American entertainer who was making millions of dollars a year has just declared bankruptcy in November 2013. Some people go from millionaire to broke in the blink of an eye. I also know the story of a Vice President of Communications at an American corporation who was making $300, 000 a year who lost his job once the corporation went bankrupt. He was unable to get a job and had to sell his mansion for a modest apartment. He also had to resort to armed robbery to get money on the table. I think he went to jail. There's a saying in America the "poor people have to die so that the rich people can get stronger. Weak companies have to go bankrupt so that strong companies can get stronger."

Then he's not wealthy. He's rich, but not wealthy. If you live paycheck to paycheck you are not wealthy.

Rather than working for money I want to make money work for me. I believe that for every action there is an opposite reaction. If you are rich now one day you could end up becoming poor. I heard of some lawyers/ business people who became mentally disabled and became unemployed. It's good to have a welfare safety net and promote social/ economic justice. The family is not the ultimate safety net it is the government. Without social justice we are nothing. I am asking you all on this forum to spare a thought for disadvantaged Australians who are doing it tough. Compassion is not a dirty word. It is a the hallmark of a society that has fairness and justice at its heart. What is justice? My definition of justice is the fitness of purpose of society including fairness.
