Ask people around here (or make a thread in the USYD Forums) stating which subjects you are doing. There is bound to be a user who has done at least one of them, so they'll be able to tell you which books you will or will not need.
As per Carrotsticks' suggestion...

I'm currently doing in semester 1:
EDUF1018
BIOL1001
CHEM1101
MATH1001
MATH1002

and in semester 2:
EDUF1019
BIOL1002
CHEM1102
MATH1003
MATH1004

For the people who have done these units, for which of these units should I buy a textbook and/or reader for? Thanks!! :D

I can't say much for semester 1, but for semester definately buy (when its closer to semester 2) the textbook for MATH1004. No need to purchase that now, obviously.

Buy the maths textbooks/notes but not the chemistry one - the chemistry lecture slides/notes are more than enough.

If it's the same as last year, there is no need to buy textbooks/readers for your EDUF units, all the readings will be uploaded onto Blackboard

This. From memory the bulk of EDUF1018 and 1019 were group assessment tasks, I can't recall the textbooks being of much use (though this was 2 years ago for me, and after awhile the units blur). Majority of EDUF readings are uploaded online though they do compile a reader for easier use and just easier accessibility for you.

Thanks for all the replies :) Has anyone done BIOL1001 and BIOL1002? If yes, is the textbook and or reader recommended?
