Hey
I was just wondering how your final mark is affected by your assessment task marks throughout the year?
As in what sort of marks do you need to get in each assessment to end up with a high school mark (>90)?

For example my marks for my first HSC assessments are:
English Adv: 80% Rank: About 20th? out of almost 200
Chemistry: 83% Rank: 5th out of ~35
Physics: 93% 6th out of ~25
Maths Advanced: 71%
12th out of ~ 30 or 35
Ancient History: 92% Equal 1st out of about 65-70
History Extension: 100% (Assessment only worth 10% though) Equal 1st out of about 16

If anyone can remember it would be awesome if you could tell me what sort of marks you got during the year and what ATAR it gave you. There are no half yearly's at my school so I guess that could be good...
Thanks

It's only your first assessments. There's still heaps to go so there's no saying what will happen.

That entirely depends on your school. For example you may be highly ranked (say around 5th), but your school only gets around 3 band 6's normally a year. That would mean you most likely wouldn't get a school mark >90 unless you had an exceptional year. Remember its not about marks, its about ranks and what proportion of your cohort gets a band 6 from past years.

depends on your school, and where you're ranked in each subject at the end of the year. here were my marks after first assessment;

english adv; 53% 140/145 (final hsc mark 82)
maths 2unit; 80% 45ish/65 (final hsc mark 92)
physics 80% 40/60 (final hsc mark 83)
bio 83% 35/50 (final hsc mark 84)
pe 75% 12/20 (final hsc mark 92)
mx1 70% dunno rank, but it was below half (final hsc mark 90)

i got an atar of 91.7
because i put more effort in after these shitty marks., and i went to a higher ranked school.

so just keep going, and make sure you get as high a mark as you can, coss you can't change scaling. if you do your best then that's all you can ask of yourself.

@OP, it's your rank and the quality of your year group that matters

but it's too early to say since you've only done your first assessments

you could ask your teachers usually what sort of rank do you need to get a band 6 OR how many ppl get band 6s each year for that subject

but it may vary each year :D
