I have below 80% attendance on a majority of my subjects, except for probably 2 of my 5 at school, I have to leave school and miss out on two periods every Tuesday due to tafe, but can I fail year 11 if my attendance is below 80% in subjects? cause I attend 80% of days at school, its just cause I missed out on some periods because of tafe and being sick

iirc, you must have a certain attendance during high school. But being at tafe is a valid reason (provided that the school knows about it) and if you're sick then just bring a doctors certificate and there will be no problem

if some of the attendance is being lost from leaving school early for doctors/physio/dentist appointments would that end up being exempt? cause I know my English attendance right now is at 68%, I worked out I can get it back up to 80% but some teachers have also told me the minimum is 85%? but I thought it was always 80%?

that's fine. Legitimate things like doctors and whatnot are valid reasons but if you're skipping schools because you ceebs or didn't wake up on time then that's different. IMO, I don't think that you should be worrying about attendance for valid reasons. During high school I was also worried about attendance so what i used was schedule chiro/physio appointments during my study periods/recess or lunch and then just walk out the back gate so no-one knew about it and i just came and went as I liked (unfortunately this was abused by some students who skipped classes to go shopping, etc)

Then can fail you, but they would have to be complete pricks to do so. I think they would only fail you for attendance if you were getting horrible marks to go with it. If you're below 80% attendance, but are getting average/good marks then you should be fine.

This was the policy at my public school though. Other schools may be a bit tougher.

That shouldn't be the case. There was a guy from out school who had cancer and he had less than 10% attendance and he was doing poorly in school (understandably) but he still managed to graduate with us

That is a pretty extreme circumstance though. In general, I think that as long as you're not completely bombing out in your subjects, you won't be failed because of poor attendance.

This does seem more like the case. If your failing exams and not handing in assignments with or without poor attendance then you're probably going to repeat.
A long as u pass all ur exams, u won't have to repeat year 11.
Not sure if srs

I failed my religion exam (11% close to a non serious attempt) and I continued to year 12 without problems
