So I get that your marks go to the Board of Studies, along with your rank in your cohort. And when you sit the HSC, 50% is your exam mark and 50% is based on your rank and how the rest of your cohort did and all that...
But in my MX2 class, I'm the only person in the cohort, which makes my rank 1/1... So there's no mark range or anything. Does that mean that my HSC mark will be 100% based on my exam mark?? Bc there's no internal ranks to consider? Could someone please explain that??

No.

your final exam mark that you score in the HSC will roughly equal your internal mark.

Strong derail.

Basically in OP's case, your internal mark would be reflected by your performance in the externals, so getting 95 in externals (for example) would make your internals roughly the same, and vice-versa in the case of a poor external performance.

Your rank determines what moderated internal mark you get. So your internal for 4u is heavily influential on your performance in the external exam
