so if there were 2 similar questions in the HSC paper; will you write "dear marker; pls refer to Q28"?
Hsc wouldn't ask a question on Haber for 7 marks, then ask another Haber question, with the answer already in the previous.

Catalyst is a porous iron magnetite.
- provides larger surface area for reaction to take place
- lowers activation energy and thus keeps the reaction in a limited temp range
- speeds up reaction rate

Is there a difference between manage vs monitor they want usto pick on? :S
Yeah, I think they want us to talk about instruments (total ozone mapping spectrometer, dobson ozone spectrometer, etc) instead of what we do to manage ozone depletion?

I don't think they'd be fussy over you specifically saying managing is this and monitoring is this.
But for 7 marks, i think they would want stuff like compromise conditions, but also how gas liquid chromatography is used to ensure catalyst has not been poisoned and the ratio of nitrogen to hydrogen is 1 to 3.

You know for the dot point which requires you to know about a person working in a particular branch of chemistry and what principle they use?

My example is:

John Smith is a production chemist at a plant which produces ammonia through the Haber process. The branch of chemistry that he undertakes is analytical chemistry which involves the analysis of the chemical contents of substances and mixtures. A chemical principle that John will employ is that of solubility as he uses gas-liquid chromatography to identify the substances present as the gas is passed over a liquid stationary phase. If the ratio of nitrogen to hydrogen is not roughly 1:3, efficiency may be reduced. In addition, if carbon monoxide or sulfur is present, the catalyst may be poisoned, resulting in the need for it to be replaced.

In simpler words, the catalyst is analysed for impurities which may interfere with the reaction.
