Wasn't sure where to put this... Anyways, did anyone apply for EAS and get rejected? I know it seems blunt, but just curious to know

Yeap i also received mine, however i was just curious if anyone actually gets rejected. I mean if you provide them with documents (which is what they ask), wouldn't everyone 'get in'? Surely some people get rejected?

Some people may not provide adequate documents?

Yeah, go on the correspondence thingy, click on the section which says EAS, a file gets open/downloaded which is a letter addressing you that your application has reached them.

Basically, EAS is primarily a bonus point scheme. Anyone who faces financial hardship during their HSC or preliminary years can apply. There are other disadvantages such as disability, and others that i cannot remember. Except for 2 uni's (USYD i think and one other) every other UNI can give a student up to 5 bonus points, they determine how much. It obviously boosts their ranking position for courses not their ATAR. Just a bonus point scheme

USYD and the other uni, do not give bonus points however they have a set number of applications dedicated just for EAS students. Say for instance Advanced Science, they might have idk 20 spots for EAS students.

Thankyou :)
Did panic for a moment when I thought that there was two separate letters.

I phoned UAC last week enquiring about EAS. They lady explained that almost everyones application "passes" however when offers come out the Uni decides whether the disadvantage would have had a huge impact on your studies.

Is it possible for a university to completely disregard a students application, despite passing through UAC? (e.g, uni awards no bonus points or anything)

Its even more annoying when you might be looking at a course that is 99+, but the minute you get to 2 atar points below that (i.e. 97), NOTHING FREAKING HAPPENS. Because apparently you weren't "disadvantaged enough".
Yeah it's a pretty shit system.
